As you wander around the downtown area you will notice an abundance of public art on the street, in planters and, in the +15 walkway system. Calgarians have an affinity for the arts that is also evident in the number of galleries located downtown.

Contemporary Calgary (www.ContemporaryCalgary.com) - Contemporary Calgary or C2 is the new collaboration between the galleries formerly known as the Art Gallery of Calgary (AGC) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). C (formerly the AGC) is located on Stephen Avenue at 117 8TH AVE SW.
The Glenbow Museum (www.glenbow.org) - The Glenbow has over 93,000 square feet of space and it's open to the public, which houses a museum, an extensive art collection, library, and archives. It has exhibition space in more than 20 galleries, showcasing a selection of the Glenbow's collection of over a million objects.
John Fluevog Peanut Gallery (www.fluevog.com) - Located on the lower level of the John Fluevog shoe store on Stephen Avenue is The Peanut Gallery, a rotating gallery exhibition space available for shows by artists and foundations in the community. While generally used as a place for art, the gallery is open for various community uses so it's best to call the store to see if anything is happening (403-265-1970)
Stephen Lowe Art Gallery (www.stephenloweartgallery.ca) - Located in Bow Valley Square, Stephen Lowe Art Gallery features original fine art by over 70 distinguished Canadian artists. A wide range of mediums including paintings, glass, stone and ceramic sculpture, plus artist demonstrations and gallery services.
Gainsborough Galleries (www.gainsboroughgalleries.com) - Since 1923 Gainsborough Galleries has been a constant presence on the Calgary arts scene, and today Gainsborough represents many of the finest representational and impressionistic artists in Canada.
Wallace Galleries (www.wallacegalleries.com) - Wallace Galleries is one of Calgary's most dynamic art galleries and home to many outstanding contemporary Canadian artists. Established in 1986 and located in the downtown core, the gallery is a family-run business with the goal of making art a part of your life.
Diana Paul Gallery (www.dianapaul.com) - A collection of Canadian artists, just off Stephen Avenue.
