Honens joins Downtown Calgary on our street pianos for a series of free noon hour concerts. See world class performers from around the world play classical music in the heart of Downtown Calgary.
The 2017 edition of Concrete Sonata returns to Downtown Calgary September 8, 2017.
Concrete Sonata and Pianoscapes are each a part of an outdoor concert series created by Honens and Downtown Calgary with support by the City of Calgary. Honens brings their piano laureates to play free, unique piano performances on the Downtown Calgary Street Pianos over the noon-hour to help promote the annual Honens Festival.
This year's Laureate is Katherine Chi. Katherine is both the only woman and Canadian named Honens Prize Laureate and is returning to Calgary as part of Honen's celebration of Canada 150. She is established as one of Canada's foremost pianists, having done performances across North America and Europe.
September 8: Concrete Sonata, Woodlands Piano - 3 Street and 6 Avenue SW; 12pm - 1pm
We look forward to seeing all of you come out to continue to celebrate Canada's 150 and Honen's acclaimed and dynamic laureate, Katherine Chi.
