Festivals
Festival season kicks off in May with the Calgary International Children's Festival and goes strong throughout the year. Festivals are so popular in the city, especially downtown, you will be tempted to go everywhere in one day!
The summer months have beautiful weather and 90% of the festivals are located outdoors. The most popular downtown venues are Prince's Island Park, Olympic Plaza, Shaw Millennium Park and Eau Claire Festival Plaza.
Winter festivals include One Yellow Rabbit's High Performance Rodeo. The 2013 High Performance Rodeo runs January 3rd to February 3rd and will feature a number of unique and experimental theatre, art and musical performances. A combination of local, national, and international performers come together with a special guest artist in residence to start the year off right. In the past the High Performance Rodeo has also included an outdoor dance party in Olympic Plaza featuring high-profile DJs including Kid Koala, RJD2 and Mr. Scruff.
