Downtown Calgary has a variety options for families to enjoy from children's programming to playing outdoors.
Discover the variety of children's programming all year round; from theatre at the Y-stage or Alberta Theatre Projects (ATP), a performance at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, or spend a Weekend at the Museum at the Glenbow. Plus the W.R. Castell Central Library has a variety of programs for children of all ages.
Prince's Island Park is an outdoor oasis in the heart of the downtown on the banks of the Bow River. It is a great place to spend an afternoon or a summer evening with lots a great picnic spots and a huge playground with different areas depending on your child's age. You can walk, ride your bike along the great pathway system or drive your car (park in Eau Claire).
Eau Claire Market is great for kids no matter what the weather is like. In the summer months enjoy the outdoor splash water park with concessions. On cooler days when it is wet or snowing, head inside the market to the indoor playground or grab a movie at the Cineplex.
Devonian Gardens is an indoor garden of tropical plants and natural light. Meandering walkways lead guests past water fountains, over tree-decked plazas, to ponds teaming with fish. There is also a "living wall" within the Gardens - a favourite spot for photos. Children can enjoy the indoor playground or take in various drop-in programs.
